Section of Lot H Parking Lot Closing/Patriot Circle Detour starting May 17, 2010

The Department of Parking & Transportation has been notified that we will be required to close the western half of Lot H due to the relocation and construction of Occoquan River Lane as part of the 600 bed Housing VIIIA project.  The portion of Lot H affected will be between the Occoquan River Lane entrance and the walking path that runs through the middle of the parking lot.  This portion of Lot H will close on Monday, May 17, 2010 and is scheduled to reopen on or before August 27, 2010.
During this time frame, the section of Patriot Circle that runs between Aquia Creek Lane and George Mason Boulevard will also be closed.  The area of George Mason Boulevard directly behind Thompson Hall will be converted to accommodate two-way traffic during the closure as a detour.  Patriot Circle is scheduled to reopen in August 2010.
At this time, we are offering our Faculty and Staff members the opportunity to upgrade their General parking permits to a Reserved Rappahannock River Parking Deck permit (gated area of Level 3) at no charge for the Summer.  Starting on May 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. the first 275 Faculty/Staff members that come by the Parking Services Office on the Fairfax campus with their current Faculty/Staff General parking permit will be upgraded to a reserved Rappahannock River Parking Deck permit.  You will be required to provide a $25 refundable deposit for the proximity access card that will allow you to enter/exit the gated reserved area of the parking deck on the third level.
